Here's a closer look at the Sherpa Capitol Rack on my TRD ORP iForce MAX. I debated between the Capitol and the Westcott Lo Pro but ended up going with the Sherpa, and I'm glad I did.

It doesn't have that much of a higher profile, but has enough clearance to allow for easy installs of the RTT, awning and other accessories. I can also confirm that it does not interfere with the sunroof/moonroof.

I installed the Sherpa last night, and the blue and red tape is marking the crossbars that will serve as attachment points for my FSR Aspen V2 RTT and a Kammok Crosswing awning. Coming soon!

PS: A quick note about the Kammok Crosswing. They recently announced a price increase that will go into effect starting June 16th, but they're honoring the current pricing until then, so if you're thinking about getting one, now's the time!

I'm definitely leaning towards the Sherpa, it's a great looking rack and I've heard nothing but great things about it! They also give a great First responder discount.

What do the think the min clearance is between the cross bars and the roof for the Sherpa Capital?

Great close up pics. Do you have any wider angle shots showing the entire rack and your 4Runner?

This is super clean. Do you have to do any drilling?

It looks to be about 1.25" at the closest point:
2025 Toyota 4runner Sherpa Rack (Capitol Roof Rack) installed on my TRD ORP iForce MAX IMG_9877

Also, the overall vehicle clearance with the Sherpa Capitol rack installed is 73.75" with the stock wheels and tires at rated inflation.

None. The install required no modifications to the 4Runner whatsoever. You don't even need to cut out sections of the weather stripping where the mounting brackets interface with the roof. Once installed, it feels very solid. I drove at freeway speeds today, and there was only a minimal increase in wind noise (relative to having the factory rails installed) and no whistling or anything like that.

The install is also pretty straight-forward. You need a 5/32nd allen key, a 7/16" socket wrench, and a 13mm socket for the mounting bolts. I followed the PDF install guide, along with a detailed install video for the 5th Gen Crestone rack, which told me everything I needed to know, including some helpful tips for tensioning the support brackets.

I think you just concluded my search for which one to go for. Thank you!

Excellent! Thanks! This should allow enough room for the Yakima Skybox mounting feet to clear the roof.

Looks awesome! Can you please take a photo of the inside drivers side seat looking up with the sunroof open please. Just wondering if there is a cross bar obstructing the view. And a top view looking down from outside if possible.

Where did you purchase the Rigid lights at and the side lights mounted on the side rail?

Concerned about the obstruction of view by a cross bar and wind noise if the sun roof is open.
Thanks!

I have a Crestone on my 2021 and love it. Very well built rack and versatile. I believe it's 7075 aluminum and 1/4" so very stout. Comparing it just feels/looks more solid than the Prinsu. Rails are movable front to back and no problem with the sunroof. Mounting stuff to rails used threaded half moon "nuts" that slide in slots in the rails instead of fixed holes. Install is quick and uses rubber coated stainless washers and bolts so no leaks or rust. Unfortunately the G6 4Runner is wider and no conversion kit so I can't move my Crestone over

I've attached a photo to show the top-down view with the sunroof open, but I think the real answer is that you can decide whether/where to place the intermediate crossbars to suit your needs/preferences. I'm mounting a rooftop tent on mine, which will block the sunroof anyway, so my crossbar placement doesn't reflect this concern.

I got the RIGID lights on sale in January. It's the 40" SR-Series Midnight Optics light bar, and it fits nicely with the Sherpa rack and 1/2 height wind fairing using the Sherpa mounting brackets.

The scene lights are the Baja Design LED Dome lights, and they mount behind the openings in the side rails.
